Broil elements are the elements near the roof of the oven section. They got their name because, well, they're used for broiling! They are also used sometimes to help preheat the oven faster. One thing is certain, however- they are usually underused and unappreciated. And they have so much to offer! A broiled steak is the closest thing to a grill you can get sometimes. And the broiler pans collect all the fatty runoff instead of soaking the meat in it on a pan. And don't forget seafood and vegetables and cinnamon toast and cheese toast...
